Start Here – The Whole Story

Welcome – whether you found me through travel or through burnout, you’re in the right place.

Her Travel Memories is one blog. But it has two entry points, because my story has two chapters that haven’t fully met yet.

2–3 minutes

Chapter 1 : The Escape Plan :

I burned out.
And in a panic, I created an Instagram account called Her Travel Memories — because photography was the only thing I still remotely liked at the time, and because I had this slightly unhinged fantasy where I’d buy a van, pack up my life, disappear, and take photos along the way.

The reality was that I was still trapped in a corporate job that was slowly draining the life out of me. I barely had the energy to function.
But still. That was the fantasy, so don’t judge.
The truth is, I wasn’t ready yet.

And then something happened that made me need to get it all out — the burnout, the collapse of my life, and honestly, of my entire identity too. (And no, I’m not even being dramatic.)

So I created the blog.
And when the time came to name it, the only inspiration I had was that little photography account I’d made while dreaming about running away.

So it became Her Travel Memories.

Chapter 2 : The Reality :

I couldn’t run.
So instead, I sat down and started writing about what was actually happening to me — the diagnosis, the therapy, the days when I couldn’t even get off the couch.

Later, once I’d healed enough, I realised I wanted to share that part of the story too. Not from a place of pain or despair like I did at the beginning, but because I understood I wasn’t alone in this.

And maybe, if I talked about it honestly, I could help someone else avoid a few of the mistakes I made.

That became Her Soft Moments — a separate Instagram and TikTok account where I share the mental and emotional side of all this.

What now ?

Well… now a year has passed. Yeah. That’s how hard burnout hit me. And how long it took me to finally figure out what came next.

Starting over is terrifying. But the plan is still the same: heal — rebuild — create a life that lets me work from anywhere.
And then actually go.
And document every part of it here.

This is the whole story. Messy, slow, unfinished — but real.

You can start wherever you want. Or you can follow it from the beginning. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
